1964 Dodge 426 Max Wedge Tribute Polara 440 Model

You are looking at a beautiful red and white period correct Tribute custom build in honor of America's RARE Factory Dodge 426 Stage III Max Wedge Drag Race Car! NEVER RACED OR ABUSED. 1964 Dodge 426 Max Wedge Tribute Polara 440-model for sale. FEATURED IN SUPER ROD MAGAZINE in honor of America's RARE factory Dodge 426 Stage III Max Wedge Drag Race Cars! She's a push button automatic "Street Wedge" with a strong 440 long block (454ci Max Wedge engine) hooked to a reworked 727 torque flite transmission. Pop the hood and wow! She's sporting an amazing top-end, a working cross ram system that is port-matched to the aluminum heads. TWO chrome air cleaners on original carburetors rebuilt and restored. ALL this to provide a true historical nostalgic look the original builder was going for. Car's a 2 door hardtop with roll cage, disc brakes, Doug's shortie exhaust headers, fat meats and red/white new interior kit for Polara from Laysons Restorations. This car's base body had 114k miles prior to the restoration, and since resto' there's about 200 miles added going to and from, out and about, to fair weather car events

This professionally restored car was completed about 8 years ago and has been a local "fair-weather-only" show go-er, she's never been raced! This car is a show winning crowd pleaser. And won "BEST IN SHOW" at the 2023 Portland Oregon Roadster Show out of more than 30 in the same class! She's been well maintained for the past 8 years by North American Muscle Cars in Portland, Oregon and lives comfortable stored in a heated garage.

Exterior and interior of car is bright red and white, clean, crisp and beautiful. The nice paint brings eyes to her but it's her amazing engine compartment that claims all the Ooohh's and Aaahh's. This build sports a (very rare!) original working 426 Stage III Max Wedge engine top-end with cylinder heads, dual four cross-ram aluminum intake-manifold set up with dual carbs and twin air cleaners. As a side note: If you are thinking of building one of these instead of buying this one ready to go, we suggest you price out an original Max Wedge 426 Cross Ram engine topper set up!

We believe it would be in everyone's best interest if a potential buyer fly into Portland Oregon Airport (PDX) to see the car before purchase and we can also help you coordinate shipping/transportation of the car.

FYI: Max Wedge History The term 440-model is a nod to this build's b-body base -a 1964 Dodge 440-model car (Polara) available only in 1962-1964 - that's the same year spread the Chrysler Corporation made the Max Wedge engine available. That term Max Wedge is a descriptive for the race-only version of the 426 Wedge engine. Formerly known as the Maximum Performance Wedge.

The 1963-1964 era of Dodge's Polara body styles have provided racers and collectors with a magical life on the speed tracks of Americana race enthusiast history during a time when cubic engine size was all about "go bigger = go faster" They found SCARY power to launch down the straight ¼ mile and circle tracks -many sporting light weight body panels for SPEED. Dodge B-bodies like this one came as a 2 door (post) sedan, 2 door hardtop (no post between front and rear window), 4 door (post) sedan, 4 door hardtop, 4 door wagon. This car is a 2 door hardtop, there is no post between front door window and rear quarter window. The roll bar is painted red inside the car, so please make note of this.

1964 440-Model 426 Max Wedge Tribute car, push button, 2 door hardtop with roll cage and fat meats that connect the power to the road. This car is very well maintained, stored in heated garage and is highly collectible.
