Original GTE Pay Phone and Lighted Sign

Hello?

Way back in the early 70's GTE (General Telephone & Electric Corporation) in Everett, now Verizon, upgraded their pay phones to the 'new' push-button dialing. I happened to be on a service call there and heard they were going to convert the old dial phones for home use and sell them. They rebuilt, rewired and chromed them and even delivered this one to our door! We've been using it in our rec room since.

It's 19" high, 9" wide, 6" deep and weighs 26 lbs. Yeah, The Phone Company knew how to build 'em. It connects and works just like any other landline phone. Just dial the number and wait for your buddy to pick up. Heck, it will even take your coins and "Bong" appropriately, but you don't have to feed it.

How often can you get something you'll use every day that won't break or let
you down? No key is available for the coin box- GTE didn't want anybody making money like they did.

Around the same time, we found the 'Telephone' lighted sign at the weekly swap meet at Puget Park Drive-In. It was painted a godawful green/gray color, so we took it apart and had all of the pieces chromed for a perfect match to the phone. Wait until you see the condition of this. The plastic lens is so
absolutely flawless, bright and beautiful it surprised me when I was wiping it
down!

These pieces are too freakin' rare and nice for a fire sale, so we're asking a
very reasonable $400 for both.
