1952 Schwinn 26” - Adult Cantilever Bike & 1947 Whizzer Engine - H Model - Restored

Whizzer was founded in 1939 by Breene-Taylor Engineering in Los Angeles, initially as a clip-on engine for bicycles, becoming a fully assembled motorcycle in the 1940s and 50s. Production was boosted during World War II to help defense workers commute to and from work.

Embraced as "America's Finest Bicycle Motor," the Whizzer engines were predominantly retrofitted onto bicycles, with many finding a perfect fit on the robust Schwinn Cantilever frame.

The Whizzer Model H featured a 138cc four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing approximately 2.5 horsepower, a spring-loaded pulley system with a drive belt, a rear drum or coaster brake, and a springer fork on a bicycle frame. It could reach speeds of around 40 mph and was known for its 125+ mpg fuel economy, making it a popular and economical form of personal transportation in the post-war era.

This bike as presents is thoroughly restored with original Whizzer and Schwinn parts.The frame was taken to bare metal and powder coated "blue". The engine was professionally rebuilt and upgraded before installation on the bike.Receipts can be found in the Spares Box.

The bike is "period correct" with an upgrade "CDI" ignition and Mikuni carburetor. The engine starts easily and runs strong. The bike does not have a speedometer, however the bike will easily keep up with local speed limits!

In addition, the bike has a front drum brake, rear coaster brake, and siren to let the Harley riders know they are about to be passed!
